Short, because the product is a program you run yourself and an account that carries a plan.

The software
Vellum Code is released under the MIT licence. You may use it, modify it and distribute it under that licence’s terms, which are included with the source. Nothing on this page narrows the rights the MIT licence gives you over the software itself.
Your providers, your bill
The app uses the API keys you configure. Whatever you spend with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Groq, Ollama or OpenRouter is between you and them, governed by their terms, and we have no part in it — we do not resell model access and we cannot see your usage.
The account
An account is optional and free. It carries your plan between machines and nothing else. You are responsible for the Google account you sign in with; we can end an account that is being used to attack the service or other people.
What the agent does to your files
The agent edits files, runs commands and can take actions you approve. You choose its permission mode, including one that stops asking. Use version control and review what it proposes: you are responsible for what runs on your computer under your account.
No warranty
The software and the website are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind, and we are not liable for loss arising from their use — the same disclaimer the MIT licence states, and it applies to the website and the account service too.
Changes
These terms can change; the date above says when they last did. Continuing to use the service after a change is acceptance of it.
